I believe this was my great uncle Anthony Schmitt, located on State Route 31 south of McHenry ILL about 3 miles.

The octagon shaped building is located at 1713 S. Rte. 31 in McHenry. It was the home of Schroeder Metalcraft, a retailer specializing in patio furniture, indoor garden fountains, gifts for home & garden, etc. Peter Schroeder was the owner of Schroeder Metalcraft which began his operation back in 1944 out of Chicago. He moved into McHenry in 1947 and operated a structural steel fabricating and ornamental iron shop at 1519 S. Rte. 31. He discontinued his iron shop operation in 1964 and started this store which was managed by Mrs. Schroeder. The business went out of business in 1978. In the 1980s, this location became the home of Waste Management of McHenry County.
