St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Washington Street in McHenry.

St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church is located at 3500 Washington St. It was founded in 1840 by Fr. Maurice de St. Palais and is the third oldest parish in the Rockford Diocese. The first church was built in 1853 on land donated by James Gibbs. In 1883 an addition was made to the church. A new church (see above) was built and opened in March 1923.

The St. Mary's - St. Patrick's Parochial School was built in 1937 that served both St. Patrick and St. Mary parishes, until St. Patrick built its own school (above) in 1951. In May 1970, the school changed its name to Montini Catholic School and serves the students from St. Patrick, St. Mary and Church of Holy Apostle parishes.

I now live in a house that is next to the school!
