Hi Rita! Thanks for sharing your comment about the "Dave Popenhagen farm" photo taken in 1973. We'd love to hear more about your memories or any stories you have from that time in McHenry County. Do you recall what kind of farming was done on the property? We're always eager to learn more about the history and changes in the area.

Virgil and Letah Popenhagen bought this farm in 1965. Dave Popenhagen family has lived here since then and bought the adjacent property (formerly Belden Oil, then later Kerr-McGee fertilizer plant.) The plant's buildings that exist today are used for farm storage and a scrapbooking space in the former office for family and friends.
