I grew up on this farm when it looked like the photo and it is still in our family, our daughter's family live there. The only original building left is the long machine shed by the driveway. The house is hidden by the trees. It was torn down and a new house built in front of the old one. The original house was built in 1826 and was the only house between Milan and Galesburg on the Old Knoxville Trail where people could stay overnight. Originally called Manning Inn where the stage coach stopped at the front door and passengers could stay on their way to Galesburg.
