The small white bldg to the R of the Standard Station still stands today as the post office for Mossville, IL. While the Standard building is gone, a modern self-serve gas station operates in the same location today. The post office's address is 10420 State St., Mossville. State is the road above the gas station and PO (State was old Rt. 29). In the foreground is "New" 29.

The Gas Station was owned by Earl L. Shane and the station was known as Shane's Standard. Ms. Shane was the Post Master next door. Lawson's Groceries was tore down and replaced by a new store. It is also in the 1970's, where one day, I was sitting on my bicycle as a young boy and a black Mack truck pulled up and a man got out and walked in to the station. As he was coming out I heard him telling Mr. Shane he was driving the truck because he was sick of the cackling hens on the bus. He had a couple of cartons of smokes under his arm when he walked over and gave me a candy bar, Smiled, and claimed back in the truck. Mr. Shane asked me, "Do you know who that was?". "No" I replied. "That was Mr. Waylon Jennings!" Mr. Shane declared.
