Holiday Drive-In?
This is definitely the Holiday Drive-In. It also shows the intersection of Route 91, War Memorial Drive, and Willow Knolls Rd before Route 6 was built. Most of this picture would now be the intersection of Route 6 and War Memorial. Willow Knolls was cur off by Route 6. Home Depot and the surrounding stores are where the drive in was.
The Holiday Drive-In Theatre in Peoria opened in 1965 and could handle 1200 cars. It closed after the screen was damaged by a storm in the mid-1980s.
I worked there when I was in high school. My cousin was the district manager (Frank Larkin) and my father lived in the house closest to the exit side. There was a speaker you could watch the movies from the sunroom or take the speaker out in the yard and watch.
Sarah.....I believe the next picture in the film roll......Photo 59-LPE-2.....is of the house you are referring too.
Wait.....correction Sarah.....it is Photo 59-LPE-4......closest to the exit.
