My family lived here at the old Gasaway place in the early 80's. The barn burned down when my husband was burning off the garden spot, the wind shifted, and the old hay that was in the barn caught on fire. It was tragic! I remember standing with a garden hose, as the firemen contained the fire, hosing down the outhouse because it was smoking from the heat. The tree in the foreground was a pear tree and oh, my did it produce bushels and bushels of pears to eat and share. The house was remodeled by my husband and I, different windows put in, walls burlaped and barn boarded, indoor bathroom installed and a new septic tank. This house was surrounded by many wonderful perennials, hostas, poppies, daffodils, phlox, etc. After we moved, there were several others that enjoyed this house, but was eventually torn down and now only a few trees remain.
