This was the site of Pickard School, at the southeast corner of Wagner and Unity roads. Pickard would become part of the Lena-Winslow school district.

A Freeport Journal-Standard story printed on January 9, 1930 reported an enrollment of 17. Keith Rampenthal had won the spelling contest for 2nd and 3rd graders during the school year. Young Mr. Rampenthal was also noted as scoring a grade of 100% on quarterly examinations in January 1930.

The Pickard school was sold at auction on May 31, 1957. The winning bidder was Eugene Rampenthal, who, based on U.S. Census data, appears to be the first cousin of little Pickard speller Keith Rampenthal. This was one of 8 schoolhouses sold by the Lena-Winslow school district over a 2-day period on May 31st and June 1st of that year (Freeport Journal-Standard, 5/24/1957).

A photo of the school as it was in 1918 is archived on the Lena-Winslow school district website:

These photos originated from a 1918-19 Stephenson County school directory. It contained photos of each school, along with the names of teachers and school board members.
