This farmstead and farm ground was purchased in the 1890s by my great grandparents, Peter & Magdalena (Halstein) Appenzeller. My Grandparents, George & Matilda (Proehl) Appenzeller, and my parents, Arthur Gustav & Emma (Buse) Appenzeller spent their lives on this farmstead tilling the soil. So my brother, Duane Appenzeller & I are the 4th generation resident owners/operators.
The two smaller buildings to the left of the house are the summer kitchen (in the trees) and cob shed. These two have succumbed to time and the back hoe. The next larger building is the Boynton Blacksmith Shop. Boynton was a small town a mile south of this farmstead. Arthur and his dad, George, moved this building to Appenzeller farmstead to use as a farm shop.
The white building in the center of the picture was the granary, My brother Duane converted this building to an auto body repair shop.
Am most proud of the barn, Grandpa George built this barn in 1910.
