Farm in the Hornish family since 1858. House built by Martin Henry Hornish in 1873
Hi Kay, thanks for sharing the fascinating history of the Hornish family farm and the house built by Martin Henry in 1873! It's always great to hear stories about the rich heritage of properties captured in our Vintage Aerial photos. Do you have any memories or stories about the farm during the late 1980s when this photo was taken? We'd love to hear more about what farming was like back then or any changes you've noticed since.
My husband Roger and I inherited this house from his mother Isabel Hornish Saunders. Her father was Henry Lawrence Hornish, son of Martin Hornish. It had been empty for 2 years when the last of her unmarried siblings died. We restored it to a style popular at the time it was built. We moved here in 1978. Unfortunately no one in the family wants it so I will be last of the family to live here. I would be happy to send you a ground view of the house. I hope to be able to have a current aerial view done by drone this spring before the trees leaf out. The farmland is rented by a neighbor.
