My parents owned this farm in the 1970s-1990s. It ran from the ravine at the north all the way south the county line of the west side (39 acres). On the east side it ran from the road that cuts east down to the county line (17 acres). It was sold in parcels. My aunt and uncle bought the property to the north and built a large home finished in stone. A couple bought this parcel and the next one south. They took down the barn and house and built a log cabin that sits back off the road. Someone else bought the farthest one south. The land across the road was sold to three if not four different people.

Hi Jennifer, thanks for sharing your memories of the farm in Blackford County. It sounds like there have been quite a few changes since the 1970s-1990s. Do you happen to remember what type of farming your parents did on the property? Also, we'd love to hear more about your experiences growing up in the area if you're open to sharing.

We had cattle, maybe a max of a dozen head. behind the barn and off the right side of the photo.. To the left of the photo, we had a garden, a couple hundred tomato plants, green beans and corn just for our own canning. On the east side of the road, we had alfalfa early on. Later it was just overgrown before it was partitioned and sold off. We never lived there. We rented the farmhouse out to several different people over the years. Later it just set empty. My dad put plans in motion to build a house on the south end of the property, but it never came to fruition. Everything in the photo is gone now.
