Research in local records and historic atlases indicate that this land originally belonged to Benjamin Money (????-1855). After his death, the land was left to his wife Mary Ann Faught Money (1827-1906) and children. Mary Ann remarried to Thomas Brooks (1825-1900) but the land remained in her name. She is listed as the owner in the 1878 and 1904 atlases.

The style of the house points to a build date of around 1900, so it is a later addition to land that was occupied for much of the 19th century.
