Mary Brocksmith and Ellis (Hitch) Brocksmith's home. They were my grandparents. At one time, under the trees in the front of the picture, there was a spring-fed swimming hole.

Louis and Fannie Brocksmith bought house in 1918. Louis died 1942. Fannie moved into town in 1946 and son Ellis continued farming until he died in 1967. His wife Mary lived there until her death in 2002. Her daughter Linda and her husband Ed Gardner now live in the home. All farm buildings were torn down around 1980. The farm originally had 3 barns, a milk house, a chicken house, two silos, a smokehouse, an ice house and an extensive family orchard. We call it The Ma House because it is the mother of all our homes and the home of our dear Mothers.

The property was once owned by Eli P Bicknell. Not know who owned it after but bought by Louis Brocksmith 1918. Believe built around 1890. Interior has not been changed as of 2022. Presently lived in by Linda Brocksmith Gardner, age 76 and granddaughter of Louis Brocksmith. Comfortable house with amazing numerous windows and light. House sits on hill and can see in every direction, often windy, and most summer days there is a breeze. Peaceful and amazing sunrise, sunset, clouds and stars ( for the Midwest ).One silo was taken apart, numbered, and hauled away by Amish around 1953. All barns and out building gone except the washhouse.
