My mother worked at the old diner. It doesn't exist anymore. She would waitress here late at night.

My dad worked at that station as his second job.
Bill Lewis was the owner and neon lights were all over the outside of the building. Used to eat at the diner behind the station as a kid.
My cousin Laban Jr. Kern bought the property for his trucking firm (Shelby) until a tornado destroyed nearly everything.

I'm thinking this is the Dinner and gas station that was on the East side of 37 at the Junction of 37 & 50. I see the stop lights in lower right corner.
I'm thinking the property that Kern's bought is on the West side of 37, before the junction.
My grandfather's house (Jason Hall) and parents house (Charles Blunk) was just North of the junction, on the West side of 37; my grandfather's property connecting to the gas station owned by Otho Smith, that was related to Bill Lewis, was on the West side of 37.

I do not remem ber this but my hubby does. Otho Smith was my paternal uncle. His daughter, Charlotte, was married to Bill Lewis.

My husband worked at both stations when we were dating.

This was "Lonnie's Restaurant at the Junction of 37 and 50 west. It was owned by Lonnie Hack that also had a restaurant later in downtown Mitchell. My mom Dolly worked at this location from about 1966 to 1969. Mom was over the kitchen and the waitresses and she would come up with the menu's and a lot of the recipes. I remember going there a lot during the summer while she was working. We lived on Old State Road 37 South now named Dixie Highway.

Sheri Barlow is correct. This is the diner across the highway from Bill Lewis (my uncle) station. I believe it was Lonnies Restaurant. I even member Lonnie.she worked for My grandpa Otho too.
