Jack Lidester's Horse Training barn. My father.

This is my home place. My parents, Jack and Alta Lidester, bought the farm from a couple with the last name of Keys in 1956 for $10,000, which they had received from my mom's grandparents. The original property had a house, the white garage, and the small red barn. In 1966 they had the 120x60 barn constructed. My parents had a very successful horse training business. After their divorce in 1975, my dad kept the farm and continued his business.
In the late 70s the house was destroyed by the hot water heater exploding knocking the house off its foundation.
In the late 80s my dad had the trailor removed and the small white garage tore down. He also put in a circle drive to accommodate his customers.
In February of 2013, after several years of failing health and eight months before his death, my father sold his much loved farm.
The house north of his farm was owned by Mrs. Stetler until the early 70s and then was owned by Carl Minic. It has since been torn down.
The house south of the farm was owned by Mrs. Robinson, then by Carlos and Sharon Goode, and it is now owned by the Mattinglys.

I knew Jack very well back in 77 - 1978ish, I use to help him on this farm with horses and also go to Illinois sometimes pick up horses to be trained. Jack was a great person and second to none horse trainer, I am glad for the breif time I got to work with him I too learned a lot. smart man. Thought about him a lot through the years, I just happened upon this when I saw another article on his horse trainer. Such a pleasure to see the farm. Joan
