Here is the Lewisville Store in Lewisville, Indiana... My Great Aunt & uncle, Faye & 'Junior' Lewis owned it back then... The 'main' 2 story building was the grocery part, & the right hand building was 'hardware & feed, etc', & the back portion had clothing, toys, & some household stuff... It was a small version of these big chain stores today...

I grew up there between the store & the old Lewisville school house. The house looks much the same.

Lived in Lewisville and came back on weekends to stay at my grandmother Grays house just across and down from the store. One could sit on her porch and watch who was coming and going and watching for the large semi from HULMANS at Terre Haute bringing supplies in.

I grew up 1 mile east of the store and made many bicycle, horseback and walking trips to the store. My first pair of shoes came from there and my very first job was in the restaurant after it had been sold. I remember the Lewis family. Good people. Good memories

I lived 2 doors down from this old store but remember when the restaurant was there when I was a little girl Sundays after church wed drive out for good ole home cooking. It was the highlight of my kids day to go down & buy there candy pops chips & big sandwichs when they were little. Alot of great memories 😊

Oh how I remember Lewisville store. I was Gerald and Opal Pottoroff's granddaughter and I was at their house a lot growing up. Was at the store a lot with my grandpa. He would go there to talk to everyone everyone New my grandpa he didn't cal who you were he would talk to anyone. He loved to talk. So I would go with him to the store he would buy me candy, toys or about anything I wanted. I remember going to the back part of the store where the toys and clothes were and see what on they had for a small store they had a lot to choose from. I also remember going with my grandma to Paula Lewis's house when my grandma cleaned her house. She was so nice and would let me look at her magazine s and there were times we would shell green beans. Oh the stores I can remember about Lewisville I wouldn't have enough paper and would bore you to death. Oh to be able to go back in time and be with my grandparents again they were great people. Love them a lot. The good old days.

Grew up north of here. It was a wonderful place ran by great people. We bought fabric here. I got shoes, my first pair of jeans. I even bought my son's first pair of baby shoes here. We would often walk or ride our bikes just to buy a bottle of pop.So many great memories,

most of my childhood was in lewiseville. mrs Grey mentioned above was our Sunday school teacher at the Alaskan Christian church down the road that we walked to on Sundays. Spent so many hours in the Lewisville store looking at all the stuff in the back of the store. We even went to a drive-in movie one night there. First we lived in a house next to the store. It was a duplex we lived on one side and old Mrs Grey lived on the other side. She took care of me one time while I has the measles or chicken pocks cant remember which. WE lived most of the time on a house at the top of the hill on the other end of town. Great hill for sleds.Parkers, brumetts,Hellen the bus driver, Bocks,Mrs grey and Tim.s family and the lewis"s were all there back then. Cant remember who lived in the little house on the corner across from the store. My brother Bob and Gracie Brock(she was driving but my brother took credit for it all) and myself crashed into the gas pumps in my folks car. Mr and Mrs Shoemaker were the caretakers I think for the church and lived in a little house next to the church. My Dad had a garage on the other end of town. The biggest news ever was when a Black panther was spotted in the cornfield next to our house.W sold seeds to the Lewis's for school and sang carols at there door in season.A nice safe place to grow up.
We eat a lot of lunch meat from the meat counter in the store a lot of penny candy and Pop too.

I would like to find any old photos of the inside
