I grew up here as we owned the farm from 1959-1971. The house was ate up with termites and was very "airish" in the winter time as there was no insulation. The chimney arising from the tool shed was the result of my Dad {Arlie R. Brewer} building a forge in it when we first moved there. He was a blacksmith. We started out with chickens, hogs and cattle when we first moved there and finally settled on just fattening out cattle. I remember too that the field South of the house had some black gumbo which really made the plow pull hard. There was a double corn crib where the hog confinement extension has been added and we didn't have the silo.
The road the farm is on was called "Smokey Road". With the fences on both sides of the road there were many times the road was blowen shut with snow. Sometimes when we had school during bad weather I didn't have to go because the bus couldn't get down the road. My Dad passed away in 1970 and we sold the farm shortly thereafter.
