I've seen that building for years, was owned by Martin Blad. I never really ever saw any activity around it. I didn't know Blad. The general scuttlebutt about it was that was a private bowling alley. I can now say yes, it is that, all two lanes of it. Was it a rich guy blowing some of his money? In a way. Yes he had it. But I highly doubt he actually spent much on it. These alleys require a pinboy! No automatic pinsetters on these two lanes! Chances are Blad got them for next to nothing. The expensive part was getting them installed. My dad and his brother would work as pinboys at the old Bowlmore bowling alley in South Bend. From what I was told, hard throwing bowlers would make the pins fly, and could hit the pinboys. Care to have a three pound bowling pin come flying at you?
