I was raised in this house from 45 until around 1952. It was the Beulah and James Cornick place following James Cornick's father's death. His last name was Smith. There is a spring coming out of the remains of an old stone foundation. That was a Dairy barn that burned down. You can see that on the left side of the picture. James died from a sudden heart attack walking up the gravel drive you see leading to the house. Although it is not obvious on the picture it was quite steep. Following his death, the farm (360 acres) and house went to the surviving heir, which was Maxine Cornick Hennessee. Beulah moved to a small house on the road from Lexington to Pleasant Hill church (Now gone)/cemetery.Maxine rented the home place to The Donnelly brothers, and later to Herb Stonehouse. There is a small creek running through it right at the bottom of the picture where I played and fished for bullheads as a child. To catch the bus, I walked over the fields, and across a fence style into the Pleasant Hill Cemetery parking area and onto old #2 bus with driver Wayne Munson. The barn is much bigger than it appears in the picture, and was on 2 levels. Has a limestone foundation. The farm was then sold in pieces. Someground went to the airport. A family named Mertens purchased some of it, and then sold it to Adam Smith. I think there were other renters and owners, but do not know who they were.I slept summers on the screened from porch. Most of the down hill buildings are new, and there have been several modifications to the outside house structure since this picture was taken.
