This is Dallas Elementary. Melcher and Dallas had separate k-12 school systems in the 30s, 40s & 50s. In the year 1959-60 Melcher and Dallas consolidated. This building became a K-6 elementary for M-D instead of a K-12 for Dallas only. I taught here beginning in 1979-80 until a new addition was built to the north and west (where the baseball diamond is. My room was near the pitching mound. This is not a 50s or 60s picture because the bus barn is too new and the crab apple to the south of the building is still standing. I helped build the small addition to the northeast as a high school student with a carpenter named Melvin Moon.
