This is the farm where I grew up. It was a dairy farm surrounded by acres of pasture, oat fields and alfalfa. It was beautiful with white buildings with green roofs. We didn't have the typical red barn because it was a dairy barn, which are very different. My Dad took great care of the building and yards. You can see the beginning of the quarter mile lane to highway 10, but can't see that it was lined on both sides with huge black walnut trees. I have great memories of playing in the grove when I was young and later began working alongside my 2 older brothers and Dad. There were 8 kids and we had a fabulous childhood on the farm. I will always remember the great times. I am sad to say that this farm no longer exists. The new owner demolished it all and moved the homestead to the west (left in the photo) and now it is all new house & buildings. Even all the trees & grove have been replaced. I will always have fond memories and consider myself lucky to have grown up on the farm.
