This is where my husband and I live now. We still have cattle but have since turned some of the pasture into farm ground and built a new house. Some of the buildings are gone now too.

This is the farm next to the farm where I grew up. It is on highway 10 between my farm and town. (Alton). When I was a boy, I worked some times with Rich, the farmer. I was 10-15 yrs old, and Rich, and his wife Jen, were quite elderly, so I did a lot of barn cleaning, hauling, painting, and such jobs as young farm boys did for neighbors back then. Rich kept close tabs on me, riding his small tractor with a huge umbrella, following me around! He was a wonderful old guy. I have a memory and story I tell, concerning Jen. Each day, as farm wives did at that time, she would bring us lunch. Usually in a basket with cloth napkins. She always brought me a cold Coke to drink, the little 6oz bottle. She would only let me drink half of it, because she said she used it on clogged drains, and it would hurt me to drink too much! Hilarious, but I never doubted her. I didn't get "pop" much at home, so I thought it was a real treat.
All the farm building were classic "barn red" and the house was white. Makes me smile every time I think of those two.
