Dinsdale school

Attended Dinsdale Consolidated School and lived in Dinsdale. Played basketball in the gym and on the outdoor court, played baseball in the front yard, roller skated down the sidewalk from the front door to the street, and played hide and seek throughout the grounds. Everything has changed. The school is almost unrecognizable now--walls caving, trees growing in, around, and up through the building. However, the memories of a wonderful VERY small town Iowa school remains.

One could not have a better place to grow up. The small town atmosphere , great friends , and buddies are a thing one does not forget. To bad a lot more people could not have had my experience. The fun we had playing BB in the gym, Oh, to go back and experience some of those days again. We can't but we can remember. I attended Dinsdale school from 1st grade thru the 12th, graduated from Coe College with a BA and Northern Illinois University with a Masters Degree, employed 34 and half years in the field. What a life it has been ,Memories.

My mom graduated from here. Class of 61. Her ancestors were Dinsdales. Even in disrepair, she remembers fondly. Best centennial ever

I attended Dinsdale School from Kindergarten through the 8th grade, I then attended the Reinbeck Community School 63-67.The BB Team was called the Dinsdale Red Devils. I was the 2nd generation to attend Dinsdale School. My Dad,James R graduated from there in 1938. My Grandfather Richard was Pres of the school board at one time.I believe in 65 the school finally closed it's doors.I remember Mrs Boldt's cinnamon rolls, oh my gosh, were they ever good!

I fell in love with this little town i only wish I could see into the past at what it once was. 2 yes ago I purchased a home here and here I will spend my remaining days. I constantly search for pictures and ask all the locals about its history. Love hearing the memories of a better time.

Barbara Hansen. There is a Dinsdale Remebered A history of the Dinsdale Consolidated School by Dave Mcmillan. You might enjoy that, and I think the Traer Museum has some Dinsdale history, too. I graduated from Traer HS in 1964, because Dinsdale School closed in the spring of 1963. Traer, then used the school for Traer Junior High school. I am not sure when the school closed for good. Am sure those last attending there can help with the year.
