This was originally a one room school house in Cumming Iowa. located directly on highway G-14, it eventually was the location of a very popular restaurant called "Belmonte's" owned and operated by Bob Belmonte Sr. and his wife Rose. The actually lived in part that has been un-attached and moved to opposite corner of this lot. Belmonte's restaurant closed and operation was re-opened as Adam and Abby's which was popular for their Sunday Brunch. Eventually the restaurant was purchased by Edward Harkin who operated this as Mr. Ed's for a few years until Ed closed the restaurant in the 1990's. Was reopened as Baratta's in 2000? The economic downturn took a toll on small businesses in this very small community and Baratta's relocated to Orilla. The building was sold in 2009 or 10 and has not reopened as of 2011.
