Worth Cathcart and Edna Cathcart

2007: The barn, silo was gone, back shed was shortened. I loved living here

Worth & Edna died in the 1970's. Steve & Kris Cathcart moved into the house and farmed the land with his Dad, Leroy Cathcart. after living there twenty some years, the house was sold. It has changed owners again.

I love the history of this farm. My family was the one to buy it from Steve and Kris. I would love to know more, there were many original items around when we lived there.

To Gerri Length. Steve Cathcart's grandfather, Worth Cathcart, purchased the house & farm about 1947. If you are interested, I could tell you hoe Worth Cathcart got the money to buy that farm. The house was built in1914 and I sold it to Steve for $26,000, a very good bargain for Steve & Kris because they were renting the land to farm & my husband was not a farmer, so I knew we would most likely come there to live. He was a military man and a teacher that taught at the University of Kentucky. Was also a teacher, and after his untimely death from cancer, , I taught second English in China. After my husband retired, we retired in Melbourne, Florida and we had a summer cottage in Cashiers, N. C. . I presently live in a retirement place, Century Village, West Palm Beach, Florida. I am interested why did your parents sell the farm house? My children have many found memories of visiting my parents, (their grandparents) every summer if we were living in the States. Of course that was not possible when we lived in Alaska or Okinawa. Military life is interesting, and Thank the Lord, my husband lived to retire from it. Interestingly, my son is retired military, also my daughter, Kathy McAlduff married a military pilot.

To Frances: I would love to hear the story. This is all really interesting to me and answers things I've always kinda wondered about. what a life! I have some other questions that I think you might be able to answer. I would prefer to continue this over email just so there's some privacy than the whole internet. You can email gerrilenth@gmail.com. Email is also easier for me as I'm preparing for a medical license exam this summer. My mom was divorced when we bought it and there was only 1 kid at home with her when she sold it. I know winters were getting really hard and overall, I think the property was just too much by herself.

We used to live there from 1978- 2004
