The Old Edmonson County High School
Tandy McIntire Building. No longer exists.
The Tandie McIntire Building is the prominent building in the front center of the photo. It was, I believe, the old Brownsville High School before it was consolidated into the new Edmonson County High School in 1960. Immediately behind the Tandie McIntire building is the old gymnasium that went with it. To the left of the gymnasium in the upper left of the photo is part of what was first Edmonson County High School. Underneath the gymnasium is the lunchroom that served all of those buildings. After ECHS became the new high school the Tandie McIntire building became Brownsville Junior High School for 6th-8th grades. Across the street (would be beyond the bottom of this picture) was Brownsville Elementary School for grades 1-5. The only one of these three buildings still remaining is the one in the upper left, the high school at the time of this photo. Today it is the 5th-6th Grade Center for the whole county.
