Wow! I was 9 years old when this was taken! This was our home from 1973-2012. The barn was originally a turn-of-the century "milk barn" and the land belonged to the Stevenson family then. Along the way, the land was divided and this barn was converted into a Veterinary office. My Dad, Dr William H. Payne, bought the land and the practice from Dr. James Ramsey in 1973 and practiced in that barn/office until the late '80s when the office moved to Commerce Drive. The trees in the front yard were all wiped out by storms or other natural issues. The small building to the left of the barn was originally a smokehouse but we just put the lawn mower in it. On the hill to the right of the barn is a man-made pond. It was fed by a natural spring. The spring was the source of water for the house until "city water" came in the '80s. The spring house is located under the cover of the two large trees in the bottom left corner of the picture. My father along with my mother, Sandy Payne, raised myself and my brother, William J. here. We spent many happy years playing on the 40 partly wooded acres. We added a new horse barn in the field to the left of the original barn and added on to the back of the original barn. Currently the land is owned by the Falcon family who have transformed the land into a working farm again. Many, many good memories.
