New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Moorman Ky
Brings back wonderful memories spent in Moorman, visiting my grandmother, Lee Buskill. Attended New Hope Baptist Church as a child. I remember a Sunday picnic on the grounds, and the red clay road; Mr. Smith the Moorman Postmaster, and Miss Effie Smith who ran the little country store, right across the railroad track from the Church. I still visit every few years, including the 2 room schoolhouse near Jack Dunlap's store.
Mr. Smith was my grandfather, Miss Effie was my Great aunt.
Jack Dunlap was my uncle,( married to my mom's sister Doris)
I have vague memories of Moorman as they all moved to South Carrolton when I was still very youn (my My uncle Dewey owned and operated Lake Venus in Bremen, which, to me, was heaven on earth as a child
Hi Phillip! Thanks for sharing those memories with us. It sounds like you have a rich family history in Muhlenberg County. We'd love to hear more about what it was like growing up there in the early '80s. Are there any specific experiences or landmarks that stand out to you from that time? How do you think the area has changed since then? We appreciate any additional details you can provide.
