Sawyer farm route 212
The farm house and the small barn on the house side of the road and the two of the smaller garages on the opposite side of the road are the only buildings left now. All of which are still be used in some manner on this still operating farm stretching into the 6th and 7th generation to work the land here. Note: This small barn l speak of is by no means "small" just to put into perspective the massive size of the large cattle barn just behind it which was a three story barn. The bigger of the buildings across the road was a potato house which was one of the many ventures used support the families over time.
This is amazing to see have only ever seen a painting reflecting all the buildings on the house side of the road! The Grange farm turned Sawyer farm when Jean Grange married George Sawyer my grandparents decided to take over the farm. My cousin got to grow up there as well as our parents and grandmother as he said many generations have grown up there a beautiful place and home.
I grew up here and I think I see myself and at the Great Dog Doc playing in the yard, or maybe hanging out in the hay mow of the big barn.
This photo taken shortly after the dairy cattle were sold and the pastures and barns were vacant for the first time in 100 years!
