Main Road Monticello, Maine Corey Texaco

Codrey's Texaco

I grew up in monticello , that is the house i grew up in on the top right you can just see the bottom of it then we moved to church street behind the store.

Texaco owned by Linton Codrey my Dad for many years Thirty or more use to work there

Lived here most of my life. One of my best friends lived in the white house next to the station. The big barn has been torn down. The almost directly across from station was then Ronald Lothrops Grocery store where I worked back in my high school years from 59 thru 62. That store is now the Village store which has been modified as a one story building because of a fire. The building across from t he station South from the store was a restaurant and pool hall. That has been replaced with the Village l a g e Park
Back in the day there were at least 5 stores and at least 4 different areas you could fuel up. Oh how the Times have changed

I don't remember the big barn, missing a house behind the gas station and one in front of the Foster place, right ? There was many stores in Monticello.

What a fabulous photo. I now own the old Foster House (long white house just south (left) of the Texaco) and I have wondered where the barn was situated on the property. It was huge! Wish it was still there!! My grandmother, Mildred Porter Jewell lived in Monticello all her life and my mother, Leona DeLong was raised there. Thanks for sharing Lucas!

To the right of the gas station was the IGA run by Kermit. Next to it was Harry Hart's store. Remember the ice cream counter? My mother, Norma Harper, said it was a funeral home at one time too. The town really looks good now. A lot of memories. Remember Blanche's store on the other side of the bridge? My grandparents lived next to it. Many good memories.

My father and mother ran a restaurant
across the street from Codrey's, Ricker's
Restaurant, which had a pool hall and soft-serve
Ice cream in the summer. My older sister Deb worked
there as did my grandmother Stella Ricker.
Come to think of it my sister met her future husband
when he took a summer job painting Codrey's Texaco.
