Vahlsom farm on bangor rd. Easton Me. All the buildings are gone.

Vahlsing farm. They used to raise sheep hers.

My wife's aunt and uncle Hazel and Don Johnston lived there on the right side of the house and when we were young we played with Stan Frost's kids. We would go up in the sheep barn and have bb gun fights in the loft of the barn.I have so many great memories from the days playing at the Vahlsing farm.It was in the early 1960's.

This house was built by Frazier Shaw in the 1910's. He lost the farm during the depression and it, along with many others on the Bangor Road, was bought by Vahlsing & Co. Mrs. Frazier Shaw and her son Oscar moved to a house on the West Ridge Road, just north of Gert Dickey's home and south of Lila Dodge's home. The house is no longer in existence. Mrs. Shaw ran a boarding house for salesmen.

Mrs. Shaw lived across the West Ridge Road from my parents, and I used to deliver a quart of milk every day to her. Later when her daughter-in-law Mabel and son Earl lived in an upstairs apartment, we would all congregate in the summer evenings on the front porch and talk about the past and the present. This house on the West Ridge Road faced east and so in the evening, there was no west sun to contend with. One learned the history of Easton, of the depression, of World War II in these discussions.

This house was the next house to ours, the Cumming farm. Used to play with Susy Foster when I was very young. Sad it is gone, such a beautiful place.
