Lee Haines Farm / Bernard Bird Farm

Bernard and Barbara (Michaud) Bird bought this former Lee Haines farm in the 60’s. Bernard (Bunny) farmed several former Haines farms (Lee H, Graydon H, Dickey H, Ray H, & Summerson farms) from this set of buildings with his father Cecil Bird, and brothers Ray and Ted Bird. Bunny and Barb raised 4 daughters here; Jane, Cindy, Robin, and Becky. Cindy and I married in 1976. I painted the exterior of many of these buildings during the summer of 1975 when we were courting. Cindy has always said the house is haunted. It was a remarkable set of buildings. When Cindy and I were dating, I used to land my Piper J3 cub in that, what was then a clover field behind the grove, and taxi up the field road into the court yard to pick up Cindy on dates.
She loved it! Bunny? Well, Not so much! Needless to say, my world changed forever for the best in 1975, when I came to know and love this beautiful woman, the farmer’s daughter, and the beautiful loving family that lived here in this little taste of God’s creation.

If you look carefully at this photo, see the 2 girls walking up the driveway. The school bus just dropped them off from school. The young lady closest to the house is Bunny & Barb’s oldest daughter Jane. Cindy, with the red hair and wearing the dress, is closest to the road. Bunny is standing by the corner of the barn (being painted) connected to the house. This is such a timeless and amazing photo!

Well, my father in law, who owned the farm pictured here, had a color version framed and hung on the wall. He is actually standing there at the corner of the barn which is connected to the house. I was told he bought the color photograph in 1965 from the people that flew by and took this picture. Is it possible to get a color image of this picture?
