Robert Roope Farm, Reach Road, Presque Isle

Three generations on the Farm - Robert Sr, son - Robert Jr, grandsons - Bruce & Brandon.

This is a photo of my Grandparents' farm near Presque Isle, Maine. Their house, which is now my Aunt Regina's home, is on the left. My sisters and I spent many happy days here playing with our cousins, who lived in the house on the right. We went out often for Sunday and had many overnight visits in the summer. We used to go down to the river to play on the "big rock". We weren't supposed to get in the water, but we did a little wading. However my cousin, Bruce, waded OUT. We would be telling him to come back in and he would grin and take another step... The river seemed like such a long way from the houses back then. After wading we would all sit on the big rock in the sun to dry before going back across the pasture to the house. There are lots of stories and many adventures that could be told about the fun we had on this little piece of paradise.

The potato house is gone. The house on the right is three times the size. Smaller buildings gone New garages and built at Bruces and mine.Outside of the house It has has been done over. Trees planted.
Porch enclosed and the out side and inside done over,Had 26 acres for crops. Sold all between Bruce and Brand and their dad Bob we sold 1000 acres a few years ago. Raised potatoes, peas broccoli, Had cattle and hogs and two horses. It has been in the same family The big house is ten rooms two baths and a powder room.I hope it will always have family living here. Life has been good
