Photo 36-OAR-1

In 1962 our parents Malcolm and Lillian Smith bought this farm on Reach Road in P.I. and moved us 9 kids in. The barn by the house held laying hens and was 3 stories high. It had an elevator in it run by pull chords. The longer "pole barn" in the fore front held pullet chicks and had an automatic feeder. These 2 barns are gone. The house was also 3 stories high and I had the top front bedroom. That window over looked the Aroostook River and onto the Ft. Fairfield Rd. A million dollar view! It had stood empty for quite a while, but is now being lovingly restored. When i got the chance to go back inside after a 41 yr. absence, there were many things the same, including the paint and glued items from magazines that I put on the walls of that bed room in 1967!

Oh ya I remember the summer I and about 4 other kids where hired to clean the chicken coop.
