Martin's store
Use to be Guerrette store, I grew up right next door.
It was the Guerrette store when I was growing up there. So many fond memories. Penny candies and comic strips. Great place to gather and socialize.
Sure had a connection to the place . from 1945 to 1977. Called Louis's Groceries We sold it to Richard Ouellette, he then sold it to Richard Martin.
Yes, really had a connection, bought by Felix Martin 1944, thought he could open a grocery store but his wife was not able to. Louis Guerrette got discharged from U.S. Army, got married to Felix's daughter , so together decided to go in business. From Oct 1945 to Nov1, 1977 . Sold and moved to Florida.
Seems like so long ago! It was! Louis was my Dad! I have nice memories of Mom (Bea) making a skating rink on the front lawn one winter because I loved to skate. What a fun time! And, memories of Dad's generosity to us and people in the community who were in need. Both were hard workers and instilled a good work ethic in my brothers and me.
This is where I grew up. My parents bought this property in the late 80's from the Guerrettes and own it to this day.
One correction to a comment above.. Mr. Guerrette sold the store to my father Robert Martin, not Richard.
Sorry..I meant to say it was purchased from the Ouellette's.. Not the Guerrettes.
