perham post office and church
Perham Post Office and Baptist Church, Perham
Set the location.
I grew up in Perham, less than a mile from the post office. At that time, in the 1960's, Mac Holts owned this building as a store, and the post office was in the back of the store. I remember walking to "Mac's" in the summertime, with my cousins Barry and Rhonda Wright, with 25 cents to spend. If my memory serves me correctly, with that quarter I could buy a bottle of soda and some candy. Penny candy was the best!
I grew up in Perham - my parents shopped at Mac's. Our four-room school was just a "stone's throw" from the store/P.O.
Mac Holt's mother was a Peary, sister of My grand father Roy Peary. Mac married widow Harriet Lewin in later life. I introduced Mac and his cousin ? Peary in Washburn to our ancestors location in Denmark Maine.
Linwood Peary is the cousin above./
