Camille Cyr's house, My brother George Cyr Jr. rented that house in the 1970's for a few years. Camille was a US Navy Veteran also a Palm Reader. Later Camille I think moved into the house, I think! One year Madawaska experienced a microburst summer thunderstorm. It made a lot of damage especially the Gateway Motel sign. The winds were from the west northwest and literally bent the sign to less than a 45 degree angle. I was across the street in my mothers garage when that happened. And the Barn in this photo was heavily damaged. When the storm came by, Camille Cyr was hiding in his truck near the barn and parts of the barn fell on his truck pinning Camille in his truck. I'm sure more people in St. David can comment on this. Anyway the barn was demolished after this storm.

After the microburst, Yvette, Camille's wife called my brother Norman, who found Camille sitting in the pickup, with pieces of the barn all around the pickup and Camille, who was quite relieved to see Norman standing there.

Camille Cyr was a Merchant Marine and moved into the house with Yvette in 1974 and he retired in the Spring of 1975. Camille and Yvette lived there until they went to the nursing home in September 2002. The microburst destroyed the barn in August 2002. Yes family and friends were always welcomed and large lunches were always served. This always involved card playing before and after the meals. Camille was a man of the world being in the Merchant Marines. He was always interested in the different cultures and experienced them first hand when they were at port. He was an extraordinary palm reader being so accurate. He even told of his own death date looking at his life line to within a few days.
