Coffin Farm Sheridan Rd Ashland

I remember picking string beans, only lasted a couple of days I was to slow, couldn't make any money.

Born and raised there 1943 .

thanks for sharing Artie. I drove past your famiky farm two years ago when I was visiting Jo Kinney. I see the old house I lived it is no longer standing...I wantedto stop as your beother was thereout in the back. had lots of memories there. I also picked beans...I remember the turkeys too.

Picked potatoes here from before I can remember until I graduated from high school. Dad used to take leave from his regular job to be 'digger man' while his wife and kids picked, all on one ticket. Orville LeBlanc;s kids always picked on the end, then us, then Randy and Roland Caron, then their cousin Elaine...her brother rarely made it through the day choosing rather to cross through the woods and walk home. Most County kids learned about 'a day's work' in potato fields. The Coffin farm had numerous old apple trees...through the years we learned where the best apples were. The Coffins always treated us like family.
