Plant Home in Bath, Maine (1 Washington Street, 04530)

This facility, on the banks of the Kennebec River, was constructed in 1917 by Thomas G. Plant to provide affordable housing to local seniors. And it is still today a non-profit assisted living facility for the elderly.

Mr. Plant was a French-Canadian immigrant who made his fortune in the shoe industry. His largest factory in Roxbury, Massachusetts, was proclaimed to be the largest of its kind in the world at the time.
