This was known as the Johonnet Farm . Located on Madawaska road in Palmyra. The buildings burned in the 90's and a new home built on site. Current owner is Peggy Gannon.

I grew up on this farm, which was built by the Johonnets in the 1860s. The original farm was 300 acres, but when my family bought it in the late 70s, we bought 60 acres. A fire burned everything to the ground in 1985, but my family rebuilt on the same site. My mom still lives there.

When we bought the property in 1977, the Johonnett farm had been divided into a series of 40 acre plots. When some property behind ours became available, we bought an additional 10 acres for a total of 50 which we actively farmed until the 1982 fire. I'm still farming and gardening there in 2016, at the age of 75, though most of the acreage was sold.

I am an antique dealer that specializes in American History artifacts. I am currently in possession of 25 letters between John & Rachel Johonnet who were the original owners of this farm. John was in the Civil War at the time and his son, Fred, who was barely old enough to join, enlisted, as well. The letters are great between these two middle-aged people who were suffering so much. John died just a couple of months after the last letter was written of dysentary. I am in search of the right person to purchase this group of letters. They are expensive, but so very important. I am only now willing to part with them after owning them for more than 10 years. They touched me, because I have never witnessed such a strong testimony of Christian faith as these two exhibit in the letters. But now, I have reasons to liquidate the last of the items I have kept for myself and am actively pursuing descendants or others directly associated with this wonderful couple.
