It looks like "Keyes Fibre Co." on the water tower. Really hard to tell. Might be part of their operations back in 1963?

This was the old Shawmut Village Keyes Fibre Co. The logs were taken out of the Kennebec River back in the days when they floated the logs down the river. The log drives were stopped in the 1970'S. Also it was not unusual on some mornings to see log trucks lined up all the way out to route#201 waiting to get unloaded. Many people in the village of Shawmut worked there their entire life. The last of the mill was torn down the summer of 2017.The land now belongs to State of Maine so people can go fishing in the river.
