Glen-mor restaurant. rt 1 kennebunk

Now the site of mini shopping center and a Maine DMV office, Route 1, Kennebunk. Glen-Mor burned to the ground in a mysterious fire.

This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this referred to as arson. Was she ever charged (we know who I’m talking about)? Or was it common knowledge but unproven? This was my grandparent’s (and then my father’s) restaurant.

Never proven. She got away with arson. Destroyed a great place that the Eatons worked so hard to build up. She stole it through divorce and no one liked working for her. My grandmother did all the baking there for 20 years. Thank God she didn't live long enough to see what happened.

I grew up in that restaurant. Your grandmother had a funny little nickname, yes? It escapes me. Gaga maybe?

She and my father never divorced - he died in 1995 and the fire was in 1997. My grandmother saw it all happen though. It broke her heart. The arsonist died in 2021. She brought so much pain to my family. She was a horrible, evil person. I can only hope her death helped my grandmother rest in peace.

My Grandmothers nickname was Dodo

My whole family grew up there too and worked there, I still remember the phone number - 985-2776. They couldn't find anyone to bake like my grandmother after she retired.
