Guy McNee farm

My early childhood home. The two barns are no longer standing =(

I owned this property in the mid 80's. What a beautiful spot in the country with the best neighbors!

My house after Ryan k! Lots of good memories there

Did you guys know anything about the farm? The land was purchased by my great great grandparents (McNee). They lived in a smaller home about where that front pasture is. It was very wild country at the time. My grandmother said she remembers having to watch out for panthers (cougars). When the existing house was built, Indians helped build the stone foundation. My great grandparents raised sheep there. My cousins and I played often in that big barn. I believe my cousin has the wood from the barn. Carved into one of the huge support beams on the lower level were the names of those who built the barn and the date which I thin was 1896. I remember cats having kittens in the stone basement which also had some dirt crawl spaces and as kids we would go crawl under there to get the kittens. I also remember their fireplace used to burn coal and the basement window would open up for the coal shoot to go into the basement. Until my Great Grandparents sold the house in the late 70s, it was a centennial farm.

This is awesome stories! It was my dad who bought the house in the late 70's and i lived there when him and my mom got married in the early 80's. Love that place and still drive by it when I got time. Kent and his dad bought it after us.

I remember hearing stories about the smaller house by the tree. My mom talked with the lady who sold my dad the house. (oh yeah, and I know there were cougars there - even in the early 80's!). It's a wonderful place...
