Photos #28, 29 & 31 show property that was purchased on 6 April, 1856 by Lemuel Eldridge Parker (known as Eldridge), my 3rd great grandfather. He bought 160 acres of land from the Asa Nutting estate on the north side of State Road (now called V Avenue) in Brady Township, east of Vicksburg. At the time, the property was surrounded by water and the local Indians called it "the island." The property passed from Eldridge to his son Joseph Downs Parker and eventually to Eldridge's granddaughter & her husband, Vilena May Richmond & Albert Emory Watson. It stayed in the family until the death of Irma Neita Brown Watson on 17 Nov 1977.

From at least the time that the Watsons owned it, the property had the 2 houses in the photos. The white one in photo #29 was remodeled by Orville & Irma Watson in the late 1960's. It was originally a house & garage, both in the same brown shingles. The 2nd story was added by the family who owned it after the Watson's. The dark brown house east of the white house (see photos #28 & 31) had a small barn behind it. Albert & Vilena Watson lived in the dark brown house & their son Orville lived in the now-white house with his wife, Irma, and their 3 sons. They farmed the property, but they also had other jobs.
