This is an easterly view of Henry and Mary Hauk Farm, also pictured from the opposite direction in photos #7, #8, #9 in this same roll.
Henry and Mary Hauk were one of the first farming families of Canton, this home was built in 1909 and still stands today on the east side of Ridge just south of Cherry Hill. The Hauk family was one of the largest corn growers in the state, which helped Michigan earn the title of "sweet corn capital of America". The family also have operated "Mary's Farm Stand" on the southwest corner of Beck and Ford Roads for more than 25 years. In 2018, Henry's grandaughter Mary Hauk Hart sold the farm to developers after nearly 100 years of farming including six generations of the Hauk family. The farm stand on Ford Road remains seasonally.
As of 2023, the entire farm has been razed and only the home and the small barn across the driveway remain. The fields behind the farm are now occupied by the massive Cherry Hill Village neighborhood development. A sign on the lot where the barns once sat announces the development of the Blake Anthony Homes project.
