Building still standing (2020) 217 Ridge Rd S Canton, Township. Cherry Hill Cemetery on the east side of the street is now fenced and gated.
This is an old creamery that Henry Ford moved and renovated into a dormitory for the workers at the Cherry Hill Village Factory (just to the west, behind the house) in 1943. At the time, Henry Ford was known for regularly visiting the factory and sharing breakfast with the workers. All buildings are a part of the National Register of Historic Places.
The former factory building now houses the Village Arts Factory, they've retained the veteran's dormitory and still have related veteran's support programs. There's also now a Veterans memorial just to the north of the dormitory near the parking lot.
The cemetery across Ridge Road is part of the Cherry Hill United Methodist Church and dates to 1835. The church is one of the oldest remaining buildings in Wayne County.
