Photo 27-NDA-27

I grew up in this house. It used to be the old Perry farm. My parents bought it in the summer of 1969, just a few months after I was born. I now live on a portion of the same 33 acres, which has been split into 5 parcels. The yard and buildings (up to the row of pine trees bordering the field in the foreground was sold, but the remaining 20 or so acres (the field in the foreground going west) is still owned by myself and my brother. I now live literally 300 feet west of the barn in the picture. If you google a satellite view of the property, you will still see the Lilac bush next to the yard pole, but it is about twice the size. I used to play amongst the trunks with my Tonka toys all summer long. The two mature trees in the foreground are on my side of the new property lines, but have died. I took them down around 2008. The corral on the west side of the barn is gone and the barn has a steel roof now by the current owners. The flat roofed building just east of the barn collapsed in the late 80's and I pushed the foundation in and buried it with gravel from the pit on the west side of the barn, just out of the photo. From this vantage, it would be impossible to see the house because of the trees now, although that line of evergreens is now starting to die out. I can remember planting them back in 1971 or 72 as seedlings. It is impossible to see that house from my current house because of all the evergreens we've planted in the last 25 years. So many memories...out of sight but only a stone's throw away.
