This is our house now. We live at 2679 Diederich Road about 1.2 miles off Highway 100 in Franklin County, MO. We bought it in 1985 from Arthur Oberwortmann and his sister Olga Oberwortmann. Their family was from Germany and settled in this area long ago. They lived first in a house below this one down near Berger Bottoms. They were related to all the neighbors in this area.
We have added a garage on the left end and a big 3 season porch across the front. When we moved here, there was just a cistern for water and the upstairs and cellar were not finished. The main part of the house is a log cabin and is built around over the years so that you would not know that from the outside. Most of those older ones living here when we moved in are now gone. They were wonderful and hard working people. Mr. Oberwortmann had an apple farm here for a good while.
