Otto Schmidt house off Market St. in Berger, MO.

Was Otto a relation to you? Do you know if the Schmidt's have seen this photo?

We just bought this house and the majority of the land in this picture. No relation to the family. The family did own it until 2008. Otto Schmidt was a wealthy and well know mule and horse dealer. He built the house in 1908. The barn behind the house was unfortunately torn down sometime between 2012 and 2015. The white house in the south western part of the image was owned by William Schaffner and was also torn down. I can find it in other aerials up to 2003, then it's gone.

The White House that William Schaffner once owned was not torn down, it was moved out of town in 2004. Archie Willimann Sr and his wife Betty (Kellner) owned the house after the Schaffners, and I (their grandson, Greg Birkmann) purchased it in 1995 from my Grandmother. The house was relocated out of the flood plain on acreage south of town by the old Berger Elementary school and completely renovated. It's the house you see coming into town to your left with the wrap-around porch, inspired by the Schmidt home.
