The John & Jesse Ehninger farm. This photograph is actually previous to 1976. I estimate this photo was likely taken in the late 60's or early 70's. Duane and Fran Liston lived here from 1973 to 1983. The house at this time was owned by LaVerle Liston, the daughter of John and Jesse Ehninger. Many rotten trees were removed in 2002 and 2003 to prepare the acreage for a different house. The house seen in the photograph was destroyed in 2004 after mold made the residence uninhabitable. The farm is built on raised ground of the lower Elkhorn river valley along the gravel road that parallels the Chicago & North Western railroad tracks between Nickerson and Winslow.
